Josh Blaylock began writing and drawing comic books in early childhood. Too impatient to wait to be hired, he began publishing them after high school at age 18 while attending a two-year art school and traveling the Midwest to exhibit at comic-cons. Three years later, during a brief stint as an art director and "biz dev guy" for an apparel company, he assisted in launching the first '80s retro pop culture line of its kind kickstarting a nationwide hit, and soon after, at age 23 would build a publishing company ranked as one of the top ten comic book publishers in North America (Devil's Due Comics). His success relaunching G.I. Joe, Voltron, and other classic, dormant properties sent ripples through the comic book world that exist to this day, most notably paving the way for independent publishers to compete with Marvel and DC by revitalizing major licensed brands.
Some 20 years later, Blaylock is an established comic book writer and artist, and a prose author on the subject of comic book publishing made required reading at Savannah College of Art & Design. He has been featured on NBC Universal news, Yahoo! Finance, Rising, and in the New York Times for his work. Several of his plots and character designs have been translated into toys, film and television, most recently with the Henry Golding film Snake-Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, and in the upcoming MGM film based on his comic book series Mercy Sparx.
Today, while continuing to run a publishing operation, Josh is a recognized expert in cryptocurrency, pioneering efforts to bring comics to the NFT space. He is an honorary member of the Moonshot Collective [Ethereum developer group] for public goods funding, the Chief Storyteller for NFT powerhouse Pixel Vault, and is a consultant for several NFT projects developing their IP into mainstream platforms.
He lives in Chicago, IL with his wife and two lovable but dum-dum doggos.
